New York, NY – Sigma Beta Rho Fraternity, Inc., a Premier National Multicultural Fraternity, is pleased to announce the momentous achievement in our organization with the onboarding of our first paid-staff for the position of Executive Director. As a growing organization, and one of the largest member organizations of the National APIDA Panhellenic Association (NAPA), Sigma Beta Rho was deemed organizationally and financially prepared by the Board of Trustees to make the historic stride to instate an Executive Director. In the past weeks, Sigma Beta Rho’s National Council (consisting of voting members across active undergraduate chapters and alumnus) voted and passed the resolution to ratify an amendment to the National Constitution to allow for such provisions to be put into place.
Effective April 13th, Phi Nguyen, has been named Executive Director for Sigma Beta Rho. Phi Nguyen comes to Sigma Beta Rho with over 15 years of experience in nonprofit management and fraternal affairs. Phi previously served Lambda Phi Epsilon Fraternity as national secretary, expansion chair, president, and chairman of the board as well as vice chair for the National APIDA Panhellenic Association. Phi has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz and a Master of Public Administration with a Nonprofit concentration from Baruch College.
“As far as I can remember back, it has been a goal to prepare the organization to be able to make this important stride, and with help of the Board of Trustees, I am proud to say we have accomplished this. An Executive Director allows the National Executive Board to transition day-to-day operational capabilities to allow an ED to aid in operations and interface with our membership and external bodies. In turn, this allows our board to focus our time on the strategic planning and growth to support our current and future chapters in a stronger and more productive environment, guided with the premise to do more and provide a better ‘SigRho’ experience through programming and membership initiatives. I could not be prouder of the place our organization is at and am humbled to continue to lead or organization during these proud times,” says Aman Kundlas, National President of Sigma Beta Rho.
About Sigma Beta Rho Fraternity, Inc.
Sigma Beta Rho (www.sigmabetarho.com) is a National Multicultural Fraternity. Our pillars of Society, Brotherhood, and Remembrance were established upon the formation of the Alpha Chapter at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, on August 16, 1996. Our founders realized the unique promise of a Greek-lettered organization that instills positive values among its members, provides an avenue for leadership, and promotes self-betterment.
In its nascent stages, these founders understood that they must maintain a constant and growing nationwide network in order to truly manifest their organizational vision. Modern Day Sigma Beta rho has grown substantially since its inception. Sigma Beta Rho has founded at over 70 colleges and institutions across the country, and currently maintains 35 Active Undergraduate Chapters. This growth stems from a reputation of excellence, values-based programming, diversity among our brotherhood, and alignment with the ideals of many students who strive for a competitive edge before entering a post-globalized working world.
